The Fire Pit along with the burning barrel have always been part of the plane for the site, Mom likes to have a fire from time to time and I like it for cooking so we knew there had to be a fire pit. THe burning barrel is for burning trash on windier days. The pit itself is made of steel rings, we've tried them in several configurations and I think we have a good setup now, air flows in well and fires start and burn well. We've also tried several spark catching covers for the fire pit and with them we've had less success, but what we have now works alright. The pit is surrounded by a half foot deep bed of gravel on ground cloth to slow plants growing up in it and this reaches right to the edge of the driveway.
