		Garters

Garters were used to hold up the leggings under or around the knees. They come in may kinds and sorts.

Problems with garters are few, the most pressing is, well, pressing. Loss of circulation is a bad thing and should always be avoided, though you have to tie your garters very tightly and/or thin.

A leather belt

Knited garters, knited with a stich called garter stich, you can knite a band long enough to tie a clove hitch around your leg below your knee

		Cross-gartering

Having the garters crossed an the legs, as in the years 1565-1620 when the garter was bound round the stocking below the knee, crossed over at the back and was tied in front above the knee.
