If you want to make socks, knit them. I will be putting up the directions for knitting socks some day "soonish." My father knits socks and dose it in such a way that the toe and heels are easily removed and either replaced or repaired without the rest of the sock comming apart.

Now if you want woven fabric socks, I would recommend you make Tabi, which are those cool two toed Japanese socks.
